LUDHIANA: In an effort to battle pollution and do away with the problem of stubble burning, central GST commissionerate (CGST) Ludhiana is providing happy seeders to the farmers of the state. On Tuesday the department organised a program to provide happy seeders and other machinery to the farmers.
In a statement issued by P S Gill, joint commissioner of CGST, “Principal commissioner CGST commissionerate Ludhiana, Ashutosh Baranwal , had identified prevention of stubble burning as one of the projects for CGST commissionerate , Ludhiana under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. This pilot project was executed in collaboration with Punjab Agriculture university (PAU), Ludhiana. Two happy seeders were provided to the director Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) PAU, Samrala. These happy seeders were provided free of cost to the villages identified by Krishi Vigyan Kendra in collaboration with Guru Nanak National College , Doraha”
“As the project met with resounding success, this project has been re-adopted by principal commissioner CGST commissionerate, Ludhiana under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan this year. The scope of this project has been extended to districts of Ludhiana, Patiala, Moga and Barnala. CGST commissionerate Ludhiana has already provided two happy seeders to KVK PAU Patiala, further two happy seeders and one mulcher are being provided to KVK PAU, Samrala , one happy seeder each is being provided to farmers of Moga and Barnala district each. These happy seeders will be provided free of cost to the farmers of the villages identified by KVK’s of PAU in these four districts,” said the statement.
