Former finance minister P Chidambaram feels that the NDA government did not ever consult him on GST even as he is credited with floating the idea of the new indirect tax.
“I was never consulted. I have never been asked by this government what my views are and how the GST be implemented,” Chidambaram told DH on Monday, disclosing his party’s aim to relaunch GST in a new avatar.
He charged the BJP with not consulting any of the political parties on GST despite an open offer in the Parliament for the same. Chidambaram had first floated the idea of GST in his Budget speech in 2006.
